Kukoamine C is a compound that is structurally similar to dopamine. It has been shown to have regulatory effects on the bladder and skeleton, as well as an effect on muscle, bone mass, and dopamine levels in vivo. Kukoamine C has also been shown to inhibit platelet activation and have some anticancer properties. Kukoamine C is a substrate for several enzymes, including dopamine-β-hydroxylase, which converts it into hydroxytyramine, a compound that has been shown to inhibit bladder cancer cell growth by inducing apoptosis.
