6-(Trifluoromethyl)pyridin-3-yltrifluoromethanesulfonate has been shown to decrease testosterone levels in rats and mice. The activity of this drug is dose-dependent, with the maximum effects at 10 mg/kg. 6-(Trifluoromethyl)pyridin-3-yltrifluoromethanesulfonate is a nonsteroidal antiandrogen that inhibits prostate cancer cell growth by preventing the production of testosterone. It also inhibits the biosynthesis of amines and the photocyclization of an aromatic compound. 6-(Trifluoromethyl)pyridin-3-yltrifluoromethanesulfonate is used to treat prostate cancer, although it does not seem to be effective for treating breast cancer.
