<p>Desogestrel (Cerazette) is a synthetic progestational hormone used often as the progestogenic component of combined oral contraceptive agents.</p>

<p>Desogestrel is a progestin that is often used in combination with ethinyl estradiol in oral contraceptives. It has been shown to reduce ovarian activity and has a high level of resistance to metabolism by cytochrome P450 enzymes. Desogestrel has been widely used for the treatment of inflammatory lesions, such as those found on the skin or in the mouth, but it does not have any therapeutic effects against inflammation in other parts of the body. Desogestrel is an active metabolite of nomegestrol acetate, which has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties. The effect of desogestrel on inflammatory lesions may be due to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis and its anti-inflammatory effects.</p>
