Applications (R)-(+)-1,2,4-Butanetriol is a reagent used in organic synthesis including the preparation of the steroid hormone 1α,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 which is the most active metabolite of vitamin D3 exerting control over a plethora of biological processes.
