Applications 2-(Hydroxymethyl)-α,α-dimethyl-1H-imidazo[4,5-c]quinoline-1-ethanol is an intermediate in the synthesis of O-deethylated Resiquimod (D228575), which is derived from its parent compound Resiquimod (R144680), which is an imidazoquinoline derivative that acts as an immune response modifier. Resiquimod shows antitumor and antiviral activity and is used in the treatment of skin lesions such as herpes simplex virus. Resiquimod is a toll-like receptor 9 (TLR7) agonist.
