CAS:2-Aminopurine is a chemotherapeutic agent that has been used in the treatment of humans for over 30 years. It is an inhibitor of viral replication and is genotoxic. 2-Aminopurine inhibits the synthesis of nucleic acids by reacting with dna template and forming crosslinks between the bases, which prevents DNA polymerase from binding to the template strand. This drug also inhibits viral replication in cells by causing oxidative injury to the genome, which leads to mutations. 2-Aminopurine is used therapeutically as a cytostatic agent in combination with other drugs such as doxorubicin or vincristine. This drug has been shown to be carcinogenic in animal studies, but there are no data on human carcinogenicity.
