6-(Benzimidazol-1-yl)-N'-hydroxypyridine-3-carboximidamide is a potent, selective and irreversible inhibitor of the Kv1.3 voltage-gated potassium channel. It has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of tumor cells in vitro and to protect against lethal irradiation in vivo. This compound may be useful as a research tool for studying the role of voltage-gated potassium channels in cell physiology and pathophysiology, or as a therapeutic agent for cancer treatment.
