Methyl 2-amino-5-phenoxybenzoate is an enzyme inhibitor that inhibits the activity of enzymes in a wide variety of tissues, including the prostate. Methyl 2-amino-5-phenoxybenzoate has been shown to potentiate the effects of hormone receptors and may be used as a potential treatment for cancer. This drug also has low molecular weight compounds and is rapidly absorbed into cells where it binds to nuclear hormone receptors and blocks their DNA binding site, preventing transcription. Methyl 2-amino-5-phenoxybenzoate also inhibits dehydrogenase, which plays a key role in the metabolism of carbohydrates and lipids.
