The chronic toxicity of diethylene glycol in humans was studied using a human serum assay. When tested with human serum, diethylene glycol was found to have moderate chemical stability and low reactivity with water vapor. Diethylene glycol can be synthesized by reacting ethylene oxide with propylene oxide.
