AN3199 is a potent inducer of the dicarboxylic acid transporter DctP in E. coli. It induces the expression of dctP and thus increases the uptake of succinate from the environment. AN3199 is also able to modify growth rate and increase the transfer of DNA between cells. The mutant strain AN3199-2 has a modified profile that includes an increased growth rate and altered uptake, but not complementation or chromosomal modifications.
