3',5'-Di-O-acetyl-5-bromo-2'-deoxy-2'-fluorouridine is a novel antiviral agent that has been synthesized as a high quality, high purity monophosphate. It is a modified nucleoside that is used to synthesize phosphoramidites. It has antiviral activity against herpes simplex virus type 1 and 2, and cytomegalovirus. 3',5'-Di-O-acetyl-5-bromo-2'-deoxy-2'-fluorouridine is also an inhibitor of the DNA polymerase enzyme and inhibits the synthesis of viral DNA in infected cells. This drug can be used for the treatment of infections caused by these viruses.
