    <p>5-Bromo-2-methyl-3-(trifluoromethyl)pyridine is an organic compound with the formula (CHBr)CFCF. It is a bromonitrile derivative of pyridine, and has been used as a precursor to other chemical compounds. The synthesis of 5-bromo-2-methyl-3-(trifluoromethyl)pyridine starts by reacting diethyl malonate with diazotation in the presence of an alkaline environment. This reaction produces 5,5'-dibromo-1,1'-diethylmalonic acid diethylester which can be hydrolyzed to produce 5,5'-dibromo-1,1'-diethylmalonic acid diethyl ester.
