N-(Prop-2-yn-1-yl)-1,3-thiazol-2-amine (P2Y) is a nonselective antagonist for the P2Y receptors. It has been shown to inhibit hyperplasia in the rat prostate and to reduce gland size in rabbits with induced hyperplasia. It also has been shown to be effective in preventing cancer development in an animal model. This drug is used as a pharmaceutical formulation to treat prostate conditions such as benign prostatic hyperplasia and prostatitis.
