Descrição:
O hidróxido de potássio (KOH), também conhecido como potassa cáustica, é um composto alcalino forte caracterizado por sua forma sólida e branca, que é altamente solúvel em água, resultando em uma reação exotérmica. É higroscópico, o que significa que pode absorver umidade do ar, e se dissocia prontamente em soluções aquosas para liberar íons de potássio (K⁺) e íons hidróxido (OH⁻). O KOH é comumente utilizado em várias aplicações, incluindo como uma base forte na fabricação química, na produção de biodiesel e como regulador de pH em vários processos industriais.
