AM 92016 Hydrochloride is a non-selective cation that binds to and blocks the voltage-gated calcium channels in the cell membrane. It has been shown to be effective in treating a number of inflammatory diseases, such as chronic prostatitis and bowel disease. AM 92016 Hydrochloride also has anti-cancer properties. The molecule has been shown to reduce neuronal death in mice by blocking voltage-gated calcium channels on cells in the hippocampus and cerebral cortex. These effects were observed with both short term and long term treatments. AM 92016 Hydrochloride also inhibits the production of TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6, and IL-8 by monocytes stimulated with lipopolysaccharides (LPS). This drug also induces pluripotent stem cells into neural progenitor cells, which are capable of producing neurons.
