Dihydrexidine hydrochloride
CAS:Dihydrexidine hydrochloride is a dopamine transport inhibitor that binds to the dopamine transporter. This drug has been shown to bind to the d2 receptor and increase levels of dopamine in the brain, which may have a beneficial effect on cognition. Dihydrexidine hydrochloride also modulates catechol-o-methyltransferase and thereby prevents the breakdown of catecholamines such as dopamine. It has been used for depression and opioid analgesia. Dihydrexidine hydrochloride is a prodrug that undergoes rapid metabolism by esterases or glucuronidases to dihydrexidine, its active form. Dihydrexidine hydrochloride has been shown to bind specifically to an antigen present in maleate-treated rats, but not in control rats, suggesting that there is a reaction between these two substances. The phosphate ions are required for this reaction.br>br>
