Trifluoroacetic acid ethyl 2-(morpholin-3-ylformamido)acetate is a small molecule drug that has been shown to inhibit the growth of various types of cancer cells. Trifluoroacetic acid ethyl 2-(morpholin-3-ylformamido)acetate binds to cellulose and crystalline cellulose, which are found in the cell wall and extracellular matrix of many types of cancer cells. The compound inhibits the synthesis of disulfide bonds in protein chains by inhibiting the enzyme glutathione reductase. Trifluoroacetic acid ethyl 2-(morpholin-3-ylformamido)acetate also inhibits energy metabolism, which may be a mechanism for its antitumor activity. This drug has also shown some anti-infectious disease properties as it has been demonstrated to reduce replication of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) and herpes simplex virus
