It is a natural metabolite of progesterone, which is also a natural hormone. 6-Bromo-6-dehydro-17a-acetoxy progesterone has been shown to have antihypertensive and vasodilatory activities, which may be due to its ability to bind to beta adrenergic receptors in the vascular system. This metabolite of progesterone has also been shown to inhibit the metabolism of testosterone by inhibiting the enzymes 17beta hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase and 5alpha reductase, which lead to an increase in testosterone levels in blood plasma.
