Ibuprofen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used for the treatment of pain, fever and inflammation. Ibuprofen is an inhibitor of cyclooxygenase 1 (COX-1), which blocks the production of prostaglandins that cause pain and inflammation.
