MZ1 is a drug that inhibits the activity of a number of enzymes, including tyrosinase, which is involved in the synthesis of melanin. MZ1 has also been shown to have anti-proliferative and cytotoxic effects on prostate cancer cells and t-cell lymphomas. It is possible that MZ1 may be useful for treatment of other cancers with similar enzyme profiles (e.g., breast cancer). In addition, MZ1 has transport properties that allow it to cross cell membranes, which may lead to its use as an anti-cancer drug. MZ1 may also be used as a probe for understanding the relationship between enzyme inhibition and physiological effects.
