1-Sulfamoylcyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid is a cycloalkylating agent that reacts with nucleophiles to form alkylated products. The sulfonamide group reacts with the thiol groups on bacteria's cell walls and inhibits their growth by preventing bacterial synthesis of proteins and DNA.
