Descrição:
Telitromicina é um antibiótico sintético pertencente à classe dos cetolídeos, usado principalmente para tratar infecções do trato respiratório causadas por várias bactérias. Apresenta um amplo espectro de atividade contra organismos Gram-positivos e alguns Gram-negativos, tornando-se eficaz contra patógenos como Streptococcus pneumoniae e Haemophilus influenzae. Telitromicina atua inibindo a síntese de proteínas bacterianas ao se ligar à subunidade ribossomal 50S, impedindo assim o crescimento e a reprodução das bactérias. Sua estrutura química apresenta um grupo cetona e uma espinha dorsal macrolídea, que contribuem para suas propriedades farmacológicas únicas. Telitromicina é administrado por via oral e é conhecido por sua meia-vida relativamente longa, permitindo uma dosagem uma vez ao dia.
