8-Chloro-6-methylisoquinoline
CAS:8-Chloro-6-methylisoquinoline is a potent inhibitor of the enzyme protozoan parasites. It binds to the catalytic site of the enzyme and inhibits its function. This drug has been shown to inhibit the growth of Leishmania, Plasmodium, and fungal strains, including Candida albicans. 8-Chloro-6-methylisoquinoline also has a hydrophobic nature that allows it to bind to cytosolic proteins in an aqueous environment, which may be important for inhibition of protein synthesis in protozoa.
