2-(2-Methoxyethoxy)propanoic acid is a metabolite of clofibrate, a medication used to treat high cholesterol. It is also a metabolite of the drugs 2-methoxyethanol and 2-methoxyacetic acid. This metabolite has been shown to be an agonist for protein kinase C (PKC) isoforms alpha and gamma (PKA). It also acts as a monocarboxylic acid and has been shown to induce a syndrome in animals.
