    2-Acetyl-4-bromothiazole (ABT) is a bromoketone that has been used as an efficient and multigram active compound in the synthesis of trimethyltin. ABT is also used as an analogue to synthesize enantiopure thioamides with high yield and biological activity. This compound can be used for the asymmetric synthesis of enantiomers. It was first prepared by reacting 4-bromoacetophenone with sodium methoxide in methanol, followed by acetylation of the resulting 2-acetylthiazole with acetic anhydride.
