Rac1 has been shown to regulate the activity of ion channels and ligand-gated ion channels. This protein also plays a role in signal transduction by activating phospholipase C and regulating the activity of other proteins such as tyrosine kinases. Rac1 is activated by peptides containing arginine-glycine-aspartate (RGD) motifs and is inhibited by antibodies against this protein.
