3,5-dimethyl-4-isoxazolyl-α-[3-(3,5-dimethyl-4-isoxazolyl)-5-hydroxyphenyl]-3-pyridinemethanol (DMI) is an inhibitor of the enzyme 3',5'-cyclic adenosine monophosphate phosphodiesterase. DMI is a potent and selective inhibitor of PDE1A (PDE1A/PDE2A). It has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of human breast cancer cells and decrease the expression of genes involved in cell cycle regulation. DMI inhibits ion channels and receptor proteins that are important for signaling pathways.
