CAS:2-[2-(2-Hydroxyethoxy)ethoxy]ethyl methacrylate is a reactive chemical with antimicrobial properties. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of microbes by reacting with the cell membrane and causing a loss of mitochondrial membrane potential. 2-[2-(2-Hydroxyethoxy)ethoxy]ethyl methacrylate can also be used as an inhibitor for enzymes that are involved in oxidative phosphorylation, such as those that catalyze electron transfer from NADH to oxygen. This product has been shown to have low light activity against certain bacteria and fungi and may be used in combination with other antimicrobial agents or hydrochloric acid to control microbial growth on surfaces. 2-[2-(2-Hydroxyethoxy)ethoxy]ethyl methacrylate is not expected to cause allergic reactions but can cause irritation at high concentrations.
