5-Aza-2'-desoxicitidina, também conhecido como decitabina, é um análogo de nucleosídeo da citidina que é usado principalmente no tratamento de certos tipos de câncer, particularmente síndromes mielodisplásicos e leucemia mieloide aguda. Sua estrutura química apresenta uma base pirimidínica, especificamente uma citosina modificada, onde o átomo de nitrogênio na posição 5 é substituído por um átomo de carbono, resultando na incorporação de um grupo metila. Essa modificação inibe as metiltransferases de DNA, levando à hipometilação do DNA e reativação de genes silenciados, o que pode induzir diferenciação e apoptose em células cancerosas. 5-Aza-2'-desoxicitidina é tipicamente administrado por via intravenosa e tem uma meia-vida relativamente curta, necessitando de protocolos cuidadosos de dosagem e administração.
