2-Methyl-2-propenoic acid butyl ester polymer with 2-(dimethylamino)ethyl 2-methyl-2-propenoate and methyl 2-methyl-2-propenoate is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug. It is a prodrug that is metabolized to its active form, dimethyl fumarate, in vivo. This drug has been shown to be effective in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease and other bowel diseases. The mechanism of action of this drug is not fully understood, but it may be due to its ability to bind to the cell surface and reduce the release of inflammatory mediators from cells. The polymer has also been shown to have excellent chemical stability against water vapor and microbial infection.
