CAS:<p>Propidium iodide is an intercalating dye that non-specially binds to double stranded DNA. Unbound dye has an excitation and emission wavelength maxima of 493nm and 636nm, respectively. Once bound to DNA, there is a shift in the excitation and emission wavelength maxima to 535nm and 617nm, respectively, causing an increase in fluorescence signal (20â30-fold).
