Maleato de timolol é um antagonista beta-adrenérgico não seletivo usado principalmente no tratamento do glaucoma e da hipertensão ocular, bem como para condições sistêmicas como hipertensão e certos tipos de doenças cardíacas. É um pó cristalino branco a off-white que é solúvel em água e tem um intervalo de pH que é tipicamente neutro. A substância é um sal formado a partir de timolol, um beta-bloqueador, e ácido maleico, que melhora sua solubilidade e estabilidade. Maleato de timolol atua reduzindo a pressão intraocular através da diminuição da produção de humor aquoso no olho. Seus efeitos farmacológicos incluem a redução da frequência cardíaca e da contractilidade miocárdica, tornando-o útil no manejo de condições cardiovasculares.
