3,6-Dichloro-5-nitropyridazin-4-amine (3,6-DCNP) is a compound that has been shown to be an effective oxidizing agent. It was synthesized in the presence of elemental chlorine and then purified using crystallization. 3,6-DCNP reacts with benzene in the presence of refluxing water to produce hydrogen chloride and nitrobenzene.
