β-Endosulfan é um composto organoclorado que pertence à classe de inseticidas e acaricidas. É um estereoisômero do endossulfano, que é uma mistura de dois isômeros: α e β. Este composto é caracterizado por sua forma sólida cristalina branca e tem uma solubilidade relativamente baixa em água, mas é mais solúvel em solventes orgânicos. β-Endosulfan exibe um alto grau de lipofilicidade, permitindo que se bioacumule nos tecidos adiposos dos organismos. Atua principalmente como um neurotóxico, interrompendo o funcionamento normal do sistema nervoso em insetos ao inibir a atividade do ácido gama-aminobutírico (GABA), um neurotransmissor chave. Embora seja eficaz no controle de pragas, β-Endosulfan levantou preocupações ambientais e de saúde devido à sua persistência no meio ambiente e potencial toxicidade para organismos não-alvo, incluindo humanos.
