5-Hydroxy-1-methylpiperidin-2-one is a muscle relaxant that is used as a medicine. This drug has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on bacterial growth and may be used for the treatment of infections caused by bacteria, such as tuberculosis. 5-Hydroxy-1-methylpiperidin-2-one binds to the histamine H1 receptor and inhibits the release of histamine, which may reduce pain and inflammation.
