Triphenylmethyl mercaptan is a squaramide that has been shown to have immunosuppressive properties. It suppresses the production of collagen and other proteins that are needed for cell proliferation, leading to decreased cell growth. Triphenylmethyl mercaptan inhibits the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) by binding to the enzyme DNA polymerase and preventing its action on DNA molecules.
