AA 147 is a recombinant protein that binds to the Fc receptor of human immunoglobulin G (IgG) and inhibits the activation of the complement system. The antibody response to the recombinant protein is directed against the Fc receptor, preventing these receptors from binding to IgG. AA 147 has been shown to inhibit both virus replication and antibody response in a herpes simplex virus-infected cell culture model. In addition, it has been shown to have potent bactericidal activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus.
