(±)-Cloridrato de isoproterenol é uma catecolamina sintética e um agonista beta-adrenérgico não seletivo, utilizado principalmente em ambientes médicos por seus efeitos broncodilatadores. É um pó cristalino branco a off-white que é solúvel em água e álcool, tornando-o adequado para administração intravenosa ou por inalação. O composto apresenta um centro quiral, resultando em dois enantiômeros; no entanto, a mistura racêmica é comumente utilizada em aplicações clínicas. O isoproterenol atua estimulando os receptores adrenérgicos beta-1 e beta-2, levando a um aumento da frequência cardíaca, melhora do débito cardíaco e relaxamento do músculo liso brônquico.
