Rapamicina, também conhecido como sirolimus, é um composto macrolídeo com o número CAS 53123-88-9. É produzido pela bactéria *Streptomyces hygroscopicus* e é conhecido principalmente por suas propriedades imunossupressoras, tornando-o valioso em transplantes de órgãos para prevenir a rejeição. Rapamicina funciona inibindo o alvo mamífero de Rapamicina (mTOR), um regulador chave do crescimento celular, proliferação e sobrevivência. Essa inibição leva a uma redução na ativação e proliferação de células T. Além de seus efeitos imunossupressores, Rapamicina tem atraído atenção por suas potenciais propriedades anticancerígenas e seu papel na promoção da longevidade em vários organismos modelo.
