This compound inhibits the production of toxins in these bacteria by binding to the ribosomes and inhibiting protein synthesis. In addition, this compound has been shown to have high activity at salinity levels up to 15% NaCl and diffraction data was obtained from 2,3,4-tri-O-acetyl-b-D-xylopyranosyl azide crystals using XRD in order to quantify its molecular structure.
