(-)-Tetraciclina é um antibiótico de amplo espectro pertencente à classe das tetraciclinas, caracterizado por sua capacidade de inibir a síntese de proteínas bacterianas. É derivado da bactéria Streptomyces aureofaciens e é conhecido por sua eficácia contra uma ampla gama de bactérias gram-positivas e gram-negativas. A estrutura química de (-)-Tetraciclina apresenta um sistema de quatro anéis com múltiplos grupos funcionais, incluindo grupos hidroxila e dimetilamina, que contribuem para sua solubilidade e atividade biológica. Este composto exibe propriedades como boa biodisponibilidade oral e uma meia-vida relativamente longa, permitindo regimes de tratamento eficazes.
