Clofibrato é um composto sintético classificado como um fibrato, utilizado principalmente como um agente redutor de lipídios no tratamento da hiperlipidemia. Clofibrato funciona ativando os receptores ativados por proliferadores de peroxissomos (PPARs), levando a um aumento da oxidação de ácidos graxos e à redução dos níveis de triglicerídeos na corrente sanguínea.
