    <p>6-Methyl-3-(β-D-2-ribofuranosyl)pyrrolo[2,3-d]pyrimidin-2-one is a synthetic nucleoside that has been shown to have potent antitumor activity in leukemia. It inhibits the synthesis of DNA by chemically binding to the enzyme that catalyzes the formation of pyrimidine nucleosides from uridine, thereby preventing RNA and DNA synthesis. 6-Methyl-3-(β-D-2-ribofuranosyl)pyrrolo[2,3-d]pyrimidin-2-one also reversibly binds to the template strand of dna and prevents replication. This drug is effective in treating chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL).</p>
