CAS:O-[4-(Aminomethyl)benzyl]guanine is a phenoxy and pentafluorophenyl derivative of guanine. It is an inhibitor that has been shown to be effective against desmocollin, a protein essential for the formation of actin filaments in plants. O-[4-(Aminomethyl)benzyl]guanine binds to amines and thiosemicarbazide, causing cross-linking of the amino acids lysine and arginine. This inhibition leads to cell death by preventing the synthesis of proteins and DNA. O-[4-(Aminomethyl)benzyl]guanine also reacts with chloride ions to form alkylation products such as chloral hydrate and chloralformamide. These compounds are used as insecticides or herbicides.
