Descrição: p,p'-DDE, ou 1,1-dicloro-2,2-bis(p-clorofenil)etileno, é um poluente orgânico persistente e um produto de degradação do pesticida DDT (diclorodifeniltricloroetano). É caracterizado por sua natureza lipofílica, que permite acumular-se nos tecidos adiposos de organismos vivos, levando à biomagnificação na cadeia alimentar. p,p'-DDE é um sólido incolorido a amarelo pálido à temperatura ambiente e é relativamente estável, apresentando baixa volatilidade. É pouco solúvel em água, mas solúvel em solventes orgânicos, o que contribui para sua persistência ambiental.
