(S)-2-Ethylhexanoic acid
CAS:<p>(S)-2-Ethylhexanoic acid is a chiral compound that is synthesized by the asymmetric synthesis of (R)-2-hydroxyacetic acid. The enantiomers of this compound are separated by an injection column, which can be used to determine the enantiomeric purity of racemic mixtures. This product is also a natural substrate for human enzymes and has been shown to have stereoselective activity in assays. Enzymes that metabolize (S)-2-ethylhexanoic acid include carboxylic acid synthase, which converts it into crotonic acid, and acyl coenzyme A dehydrogenase, which converts it into 3-methylcrotonyl-CoA.
