Descrição:
Disprósio é um elemento químico com o símbolo Dy e número atômico 66, classificado como um lantânio na tabela periódica. É um metal prateado que é relativamente estável no ar, formando uma camada de óxido protetora que previne a oxidação adicional. Disprósio é conhecido por sua alta susceptibilidade magnética e é um dos elementos mais eficazes para melhorar as propriedades magnéticas dos materiais, tornando-o valioso na produção de ímãs permanentes, particularmente em aplicações de alto desempenho, como veículos elétricos e turbinas eólicas. Tem um ponto de fusão de aproximadamente 1.412 graus Celsius e um ponto de ebulição em torno de 2.570 graus Celsius, indicando sua estabilidade em altas temperaturas. Disprósio também é usado em reatores nucleares e como dopante em certos tipos de lasers. Em termos de reatividade, pode reagir com água e ácidos, produzindo gás hidrogênio. Disprósio é relativamente raro na crosta terrestre, e sua extração geralmente envolve processos complexos a partir de minerais como bastnäsite e monazita.
