Descrição:
Nióbio, com o símbolo químico Nb e o número CAS 7440-03-1, é um metal de transição conhecido por seu alto ponto de fusão e excelente resistência à corrosão. É um metal cinza-prateado que é dúctil e pode ser facilmente moldado. Nióbio é utilizado principalmente na produção de ligas de aço de alta resistência, que aumentam a resistência e a tenacidade dos materiais usados na construção e na fabricação. Possui uma estrutura cristalina cúbica centrada no corpo e exibe propriedades supercondutoras em baixas temperaturas, tornando-o valioso em aplicações como máquinas de ressonância magnética e aceleradores de partículas.
