Paládio é um metal raro de cor prateada que pertence ao grupo da platina, caracterizado por seu alto ponto de fusão, excelente resistência à corrosão e propriedades catalíticas. Tem o número atômico 46 e é denotado pelo símbolo "Pd". Paládio é conhecido por sua capacidade de absorver hidrogênio, tornando-o valioso em várias aplicações, incluindo armazenamento e purificação de hidrogênio. É amplamente utilizado como catalisador em reações químicas, particularmente em conversores catalíticos automotivos para reduzir emissões nocivas.
