Praseodímio é um elemento químico com o símbolo Pr e número atômico 59, pertencente à série dos lantanídeos da tabela periódica. É um metal branco-prateado que é relativamente macio e maleável, exibindo um brilho intenso quando cortado recentemente. Praseodímio é conhecido por suas propriedades únicas, incluindo sua capacidade de formar uma variedade de estados de oxidação, principalmente +3 e +4, que contribuem ao seu comportamento químico diversificado. É moderadamente reativo, escurecendo no ar e reagindo com a água para formar hidróxido de Praseodímio. Este elemento é usado principalmente na produção de ímãs permanentes fortes, bem como em várias ligas e cerâmicas, particularmente nas indústrias de vidro e cerâmica, onde confere uma cor amarela. Além disso, compostos de Praseodímio são utilizados na produção de certos tipos de lasers e como catalisadores em várias reações químicas. Devido à sua abundância relativamente baixa na crosta terrestre, Praseodímio é tipicamente extraído de minerais como bastnasita e monazita.
